“ God Blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.” (Matt. 5:6).
Have you ever been hungry but just couldn't find the right thing to satisfy your craving? Maybe you thought of something you could eat, but it didn't quite hit the spot.
Spiritual hunger works the same way. You have days where you feel a restlessness or on an unsettledness, but you can't quite figure out what will bring you satisfaction or contentment. Many people try to fill the void with other things: food, addictions, unhealthy relationships - but there is a hunger in every one’s life that only God can fill.
The fourth beatitude says that righteousness will fill, or satisfy. When you hunger and thirst for righteousness - Gods way of doing things - you will be spiritually satisfied, and will know God’s peace in your heart.
But just as you have to take time to eat in the natural sense, you have to take time to eat or partake of God's righteousness.
Every day, spend time with the Lord in prayer, worship, and the study of His Word. Stay in fellowship with other believers by attending a good Bible based Church regularly. As you look to God to satisfy your hunger with His righteousness, you will be filled, satisfied, and strengthened more than ever before, to do everything He has called you to do.
While the Born Again believer is declared ‘Righteous’ in the sight of God, we must however demonstrate practical righteousness every day of our lives. External demonstration of an internal change that God has wrought in us.
